every so often i’m reminded of the weird sort of comments that girls get, and i always automatically expect them (the girls) to be annoyed at such things. yet, if i were receiving the same kind of well-meaning correspondence, i would likely be flattered. the first time i had a conversation about this kind of thing, i was accused of taking things too seriously, and i was - but i don’t know why. from somewhere in me i’m projecting this negative connotation of social directness, while i myself don’t even hold a strong conviction for such things. i’ve got no reason to feel so old-fashioned. it’s weird.
